Crossfire! nvidia is lazy and you cant run dual monitors while running SLI

You really believe CF needs X38? I am very tempted by those new 48XX series, the scores look pretty decent. I'm guessing there isn't much improvement without an X38/48 board though.

Yes. I think you should have a P45 motherboard or higher (assuming you have something older than a P35) for a single card these days. The HD4850/70/x2 all max out the PCI-e 16x bandwidth, and will hurt in crossfire on a 8x or 4x PCI-e 2.0 slot.

Before you crossfire, you should wait for the 4870X2 just to see what the performance is. Supposedly its better and cheaper than 2 4870's in crossfire.
