CCCP is composed of: - ffdshow-tryouts - Haali Media Splitter - VSFilter for rendering subtitles - optional Media Player Classic or Zoomplayer ![]() Also, OP: don't expect PureVideo 1 to do much for you... check reviews, G80 chips-based PCs (which are stuck with PV1) don't decode much faster with DXVA than without.

I'm playing that video back on my "low-end" system, using CoreAVC and MPC, and I'm only using about 35 MB of RAM and between 50-70 % CPU load... If I can do that with a x2 3800+ at stock clocks, I'm pretty sure your C2D at 2.7 Ghz would run alot better.
Note: You can't see the image when I do Print Screen, because my overlay settings are wierd... I also tried to take the screenshot at relatively the same spot as Coma's. ![]()

Wait, quality? You mean decoding speed? Quality is always the same... you must be seeing things ;-;

![]() If I had to guess, I'd say it might have something to do with my Avisynth riddled setup, but who knows... Did you play on the rig in your sig? (did you use MPC or MPC-HC?) Rob: Then again, you must be doing something wrong :E Different encoders and decoders can be used for the same format (e.g. H.264) because all the encoders produce compatible streams, and the decoders can decode these compatible streams... so each decoder will reproduce the exact same image, bit by bit, if they follow standards, that is. If it looks different then there's something else in your setup that's processing it.

Hmmm I had a similar problem. I had some .mkv files that were 720p, and they would hover around 23 fps on my old rig (3.4ghz c2d 8800gt) and would drop to ~18 at times, pretty much unbearable. Same deal on my laptop.
I never could figure out what caused such abysmal fps. It can't be the file, because no1 else seemed to have had that problem. I even had Community codec pack. ![]()

Do you still have the problem? If so, then it's likely some filter. Media players are programs that construct filter graphs from reading files to splitting them, decoding them and displaying them...
__________________If you still have it - google GraphEdit - load it - press File -> Render Media File (or something like that) -> select one of these problem files and take a screenshot of the graph that shows.
