I am gonna give it a shot by comparing the 7300gt with my X800XT with bioshock and some of my other games, I wanna see how this is gonna turn out. Keep in mind I cannot even run bio shock. I wish I had a screenie to show what it looks like with no SM3.0.

I have Stalker,
BF2 (which should run flawlessly, as it does with my X800XT).
COD4
and Condemned Criminal Origins.

hmm... i dun think so 8800GTS was onpar/better than the 7950GX2 by a bit. Remember you can compare a single card to a dual gpu card on a small resolution. Quad SLI scaled worse with not much of a performance increase. So 8800GT, more like 8x 7300GT, and 4x to a 7950GT.

with the shader model 2 patch on bioshock, people were able to play with their Radeon 9500 and 9800PRO's. x800XT will play it flawlessly with the patch.

It was my understanding that in a given series, say 7***, all the cores were the same core just with smaller memory buses and more portions disabled as you go down the sku list. Hence people unlocking their 6200s to perform like 6800s(before laser cutting the die, of course).

^^^^^I think I misused the word "core" while each series of cards is based on the same architecture. In order to achieve a wider memory bus, along with higher clock speed, I believe there has to be substantial difference in the GPU itself.

Its like you will see alot of 7300GTs with only a 64bit wide memory bus, while my Zotac has a 128 bit wide bus, those are not my words either, I read this in a review I believe in toms hardware, or some other site I cannot remember at the moment, I am going to have to look it up and post the link.

ok here is what I got. on the 7300gt FPS taken from FRAPS

Half life 2 and CS:S 1024x768 4x Anistropic, all settings on High.
70FPS

Bioshock 800x600, High Textures and Models, and High Shaders, turned off shadows, and other effects. 25-30 FPS, usually averages out at 27FPS. Not that great but playable.

Battlefield2 Maxed out 1024x768, 100% view Distance 70FPS

Condemned Criminal Origins. 800x600, 2x FSAA 4x Anistropic, Mostly High settings, with a few medium textures, 40FPS

Stalker on High 800x600 at a horrible and unplayable 13-14 FPS
and even turning things down to all medium settings i still didnt get passed 25fps.
my x800xt did much better, it was around 40-50 FPS on high

but for a 20 dollar card, not freaking bad if you ask me. Oh and it would not work with Omega drivers, which sucks cause I like Omega Drivers.

Not bad. Stalker should probably run okay if you just go with static lighting and decrease the texture size to low, and leave off sun/grass shadows.

The x800xt was at one point a >$400 dollar, basically top of the line ati gpu when it came out, bested only by the PE version, both of which were really the same card, different clocks. The 7300GT was a budget card that was like $129 when it came out. Franky, I'd expect the x800xt to crush two 7300GT's in SLI pretty handily. That card is comparable to a 7800GT, perf-wise.

The X800XT/PE lineup were beasts of cards. I still have an X850XT PE laying around here. Although I don't have any benchmarks of my own, I remember it impressing me with the performance in games, being it's 3-4 year old tech.

When Tom's Hardware still had the X850XT in their 2006 Interactive VGA charts (for some reason they took it out), in FPS overall games, it outscored the 8600GT 256MB.

With the exception of not having SM3.0 (and therefor not being able to play some newer games at full potential), I'd take an educated guess and say the X800XT would outperform the 7300GT in pretty much any gaming situation, FPS-wise, on all resolutions.
