Was never into overclocking, but since my shat is getting a wee bit outdated I thought what the hell. So I need your opinions on what software to go with for overclocking and what exactly will I gain out of overclocking it? Better performance in Oblivion? I hope so. Thanks!

Go in 5-7MHz increases and monitor artifacts with ATitool
And use RivaTuner, very good ![]() You'll get extra frames and better performance, but don't expect to go from 68GT to 88GTX performance though lol

Use Rivatuner to OC. AtiTool to test for artifacts after each increase.

Google your card specs and see what OC's people got for this card. Youll get smoother gameplay and marginally increased FPS. Nothing spectacular though. The card is quite old.

I had that card before, it was too hot for overclocking IMO.

After doing some reading the 6800 GT Core is the same as the 6800 Ultra core so that means I would be able to overclock my 6800 GT to ultra speeds without worrying about anything correct?
