Default my insight about nVidia 9800 GTX and GTX+

9800 GTX is supposed to be like the GTX 280 card in terms of performance. I was very happy with the upgrade from 7800 GTS to G92 8800 GTS which was a huge increase in performance (at least 25FPS increases in World in Conflict game just by upgrading the video card only)

And guess what, what do you get in terms of performance from upgrading 8800 GTS to 9800 GTX? It's virtually none. Current 9800 GTX and GTX+ is like G92 8800 GTS more or less. I sortta dfeel like being cheated by nVidia with the purchase of 9800 GTX card.

This is good for me to keep in mind as I just sold both my 8800 GTS G92 and was looking to upgrade to the 9800GTX+. Do you have any benchies comparing them both? If so then please post.

i always thought of the 9800gtx as an overclocked 8800gts. the only difference would be slightly more overclocking headroom.

If you took the time to do a little research, you would have known this and avoided this alltogether. This is not new news. The perfomance difference between these 2 cards isn't even worth a second look.

Are you mad?

And also, a normal 9800GTX is just a slightly faster 8800GTS. Their the same card, same core, same PCB card. It just supports TRI-SLI and a few other things.

Waste of money IMO.

9800GTX+ is a die shrink of the G92 core.... higher clocks while running cooler.

You're right other than the PCB part. I chose my 9800s over the 8800s for the looks of the black PCB really, and at the time and place they were nearly the same price so what the heck.

It's really that same cards with all the components spread wider apart on a bigger PCB and supposedly more stable power even when it isn't needed. I've had a GTS 512MB before and the components looked cramped compared to this. On the 9800 there are just so many empty areas. At least it looks cleaner, I'll give it that.

If you're like me who bought 9800GTX for $270 or similar price, it's not a bad idea to step-up to a GTX260, seeing these 9800s don't worth crap anymore.

Yeah I know I upgraded from 7800GT to 8800GTX... BAAM!!!! FPS went Rocket sky high. 8800GTX to 9800GTX is like " can I sit in the front instead?" and GTX280 is a attachment infront of the rockets tip.
After the 8800GTX/Ultra there haven't been any need to upgrade...
