Default Volt mod questions (EVGA 8600gt)

So I read the guide posted in VR-Zone:
http://sg.vr-zone.com/?i=4925&s=4

I have more than one question about it, haha.

On the multimeter, what setting should I use to find voltages for the gpu core and memory? I tried 10v DC, 10v AC, and the "OHM 1XK" settings and the only one I could get a response from was the OHM 1XK setting, which actually displayed the same amount of volts on both measurement sites, plugged in and not plugged in. The others were nonresponsive.

So, how would I be able to find my exact voltages on the gpu core and mem? So I can measure exactly how far I want to go when I pencil the resistors. If I am somehow missing this in my M2N SLI-DELUXE motherboard (which I dont think I am) monitoring settings, is there a windows application that will list the actual core and memory voltages?

Also, if I happen to accidentally pencil them too much, is there a way to undo this?

I am assuming that temperatures are a large problem here, my card runs pretty cool, but I am assuming when I voltmod too far its idle/load temps will skyrocket, even at stock clocks.

Any other tips that you may be able to offer on top of this would be greatly helpful, since that "guide" was incredibly uninformative.
