Default What is a good overclocker for $100-120?

I have about that much to spare on a GPU, and I want to go nVidia, and AMD, I am building a new rig.

The CPU is going to be a 5000+ brisbane so I am set on that part I will have so much fun ocing that thing for the first time in my life!

Anyway, the whole build came down to 350 + 75 for the case at CompUSA, and now I need a gpu to wrap it all up.

What is a great overclocker for the price range of $100-120? I need a card that oces decently with stock cooling, and I will get a slot fan to help it cool since I don't want to mess with lapping or aftermarket cooling until I get a new card to SLI or replace it.

I preffer the 9000 series. I am already looking at this

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814133216

looks impressive, free shipping as well. Very important to me

So bring it on guys lemme see what you think!

Thank you in advance,

HP

I was gona say a 9600GT. At that range, it's probably the best option.

For $50 more than your max budget you can get a 4850, which blows everything else out of the water in terms of price\performance.

If you could stretch your budget a little more, for only $200 you could get the 9800GTX+, which is 55nm and a big stock cooler (both of which means great overclocking).

I could do that, but since it is my first build, I want to leave some money for a rainy day, in case something doesn't work out with my computer building.

Here are the parts I ordered btw

I will get the case from CompUSA, it is either going to be a Thermaltake Soprano, or a Chenming tower, now they are known as Ultra for some reason.

Here are the parts I ordered:

It came down to $349.42 with shipping!

This is going to be a good build! Thank you for the support guys!
So I am planning on doing something like the 9800GTX next summer, but not now, it is too early.

I like the 9600, it looks really nice. I might even consider this 8800 GT it looks impressive

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130359

But the 4850 is actually more than just $50. I am based on about $100, so $180 is a bit much

8800GS/9600GSO are pretty good options

Get a 9600GT if you can though

That is my plan for now, yeah.

I will buy the PNY 9600 GT, I read that the 9600's are great overclockers via Riva, and one member bragged about how he oced it do a point where it rivals the 9800GT/X

8800GS>9600GSO>9600GT

You should probably go with the 9600GT or if you have a little extra cash get the 8800GT.

My sig rig has a 9600GT in it. As far as benching goes, with the cpu at stock speeds, it hits like 7900 3dmarks.
Overclock my cpu a tad and I easily break 8k. I know I could OC the card and get more but I prefer not to void the warranty.
I am adding an 8800GS to a similar system (E7200 @ 3.17Ghz, 2GB DDR 667) and overclocking it. I will post up benchmarks.
I predict that the overclocked 8800GS with the E7200 scores higher than my 9600 but we will see.
