sorry a bit off topic here but... when these 2XX GTX + series GFX cards come out will it push down prices by ALOT or by a bit? Wondering if its worth any money at all to get a new gfx card.

it's rumored that the GT200b will have higher Shader clocks, 1512Mhz vs 1296Mhz currently. http://66.196.80.202/babelfish/trans...%3Fnews%3D2349

its going to be by a bit. only time i seen it by alot was if its a new lineup and a better flagship card coming out. like how the G80's after 1 year are now worth around 100 bucks used.

still debating if getting a 260GTX under $200 rite now is worth it.

Random question...

Do newly released cards get put onto the EVGA step-up program list right as they are put on the market or is there a lag effect? And if so.. any idea how long?

The reason I ask is that I have a 9800GTX+ right now and I have something like 56 days to step up. So if this new 260+ or whatever its called is released in a month I'd probably grab one of those as long as it didnt cost me more than 150-200 bucks.

i doubt it. look at current 9800GTX prices vs 9800GTX+, if you can find them, they are maybe $20 less. i think though that the new GTX260+ will be a steal, if they really add the extra stream processors, it will be very close to the 280+ for (im guessing) $150 less. current prices on newegg are $240 shipped for an asus gtx260 (after MIR) and $390 shipped for a BFG GTX280 (after MIR)

EDIT: and newly released cards ARE available for step up. i stepped up to an 8800gt 512mb on launch (from my 8600GTS 256mb) i had to wait like 3 weeks because there was a huge line, but as long as you place your step up order, even if it runs out while you are waiting, you can still get it. you just have to get a stock clocked card. OC cards arent on step up. but this is OCN, oc yourself

and where are GTX260s under $200? the cheapest ive seen is that Asus for $240 shipped (after MIR)

edit again: in that gtx260+ link, under specs it lists the 260+ to be 65nm. this has to be a typo right? but it makes the website seem fishy. and the fact that the power consumption is listed as exactly the same (182w, not 1w off), i know itll be similar, but EXACTLY the same? something just seems off. but i HOPE to god it comes out 9-30-08, but i wont be buying til december anyways (when the funds kick in)
