If you are considering the 9800 GTX+ I would just get the 4850. It will allow you to max all your games out at the resolution you'll be playing at and insure some future proofing. I have the 8800 GTS 512 (which I'm sure you know is essentially the same chip as the 9800 GTX, just different size and higher clocks) and I don't really know much about "micro-stutter" people have been talking about, but when I play Oblivion with this card I get bothersome "micro-stutter". Of course otherwise, gaming has been great.
Otherwise, if you are just looking to save money get a 9600 GSO or GT, whichever you can find cheaper, hell even get a 3870 if it is cheaper than those other two. I think either you should go big and get the 4850/9800 or save cash yet still get good performance with a 9600 G(T)/SO/3870.
Cheers and happy hunting!

If futureshop stocked their crap I'd be sitting on a 9800gtx+ right now. Just seems that they are slow as hell in restocking.

Thanks for the advice though, I'm sticking with nvidia because of the step up/ trade up programs between BFG and evga.

Do you upgrade often enough to take advantage of that program? I thought you had to upgrade within 90 days. I'm happy with my gpu but I kind of wish I had waited and bought one of those 4870s. Which is just a little more than what I paid for my 8800 GTS G92.

If the cards drop in price in the 3 months, I will pick up an even better card for nearly the same price as I paid for the one I bought, if not, I will be happy with my purchase.
