Default looking to push my 9800GTX to its limit on stock cooling.

with the fan set 100% i managed to push card too 815/1200/2040.
stable. ran 3dmark 06, 3dmark vantage, and no artifacts for 30 minutes with ATI tool.( could have gone longer with ati tool but i got bored watching the timer)

GPU-Z validation http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/6bzh5/

has anyone gotten any further than that on stock cooling?
i know that prolly as far as it will go.

Focus more on bumping the RAM speed more than the core. Those 9800 GTX have great mem chips. You should be able to hit in the neighborhood of 2300-2400 MHZ on the VRAM. Plus its a significant boost to benchmark scores and actual gaming performance
