noobdown, i dont believe that it is RAM related due to the fact that I have gotten that message before, and than it went away. I believe its cause I installed new drivers, I read many reports of where that caused a problem. Nellys, I will try that right now.

ok, I have a question. I open up the hardware monitor and I am looking at the voltages section and i dont actually see 12V rail. I see the 3.3 and the 5 but not 12. The other ones i see are: CPU VCORE, VIN1, CPU FSB, VIN2, DRAM. and sorry i am such a idiot

lol, I think he should just do a driver cleaner and clear all video drivers. Then make sure you get the real drivers. If your using a 64-bit driver on a 32-bit Windows Install this usually happens. It says that you should check hardware problems. Plus, it seems that ever since this new 9800GTX was put in these problems have consisted. Usually when you don't have enough power, the system will not turn on or you will get a message on screen that you do not have enough power to the GPU, having the computer just flash the message in your face and just turn off. Make sure you have everything properly put in. Make sure the ram, GPU, CPU, etc is clearly inserted properly. Could be a simple pin not in fully.
__________________However, it seems like it is just a driver issue. If driver cleaners don't work and proper drivers don't work, try a full computer formatt. Make sure you get all your important files you want to keep off onto a mini thumbdrive. It shouldn't be a PSU problem, your computer won't do a blue screen or turn on if there isn't enough juice in the machine (unless your system has major flucations in frequencies that go too high and then use too much power, but that would just either have a smoking PSU or a computer that would just shut down).

Domino, you sound like you know what your talking about. And I would love to not have to spend $200 on a new PSU if it is not required. So what would you suggest that I do first? And what drivers should I use?

Do you have Vista running? And make sure your RAM is all in check - go find a version of PRIME95 (get 64 bit if you run a 64bit OS) and run BLEND for at least 8 hours IRQL Errors are almost always RAM problems... However if you did pass the memory stress test, I would try removing half of your RAM and see if it still happens... I really think this is a memory issue now

ok, first nellys. I got the new HWMonitor, version 1.08. I opened that up, and than opened the grid demo, it seemed 2 stay pretty consistant, but i didnt actually play, but if u want me 2 i can, its stay at 11.77volts, i dont really know how good/bad that is. And freeroller, i really dont think that it is a RAM issue due to the fact that i had this issue before and updating to the 175.19 drivers fixed my problem instantly, so I think that i can fix that by just rolling back. So how is that power? Bad? Good?

How are the other voltages? What does your BIOS display as the 12v rail voltage? 11.77 is a bit low. What is the voltage without load? Does it fluctuate much? From my personal experiences building PC's, 11.90 or lower is usually a sign of an overloaded PSU or a failing one. My rig now is at 12.21v and fully loaded (vid rendering, GX2 loaded) it drops to 12.16v. I deal with more failed PSU's than any other hardware replacement from my rigs. New PSU's solve the issues.
Dude I know if money is tight (like for me now lol) is there any way you can borrow another good PSU? If not the only other thing I can think of, is I remember hearing a lot of issues with XFX cards and pickiness with drivers back with the 7 series cards (7800-7900-7950's) I don't know if this is still an issue these days though :dunno:
