Ok, another question... yeah, I know... I just want all info stored in my brain

So I got one of these from radio shack.. (pic attached)

Am I correct in thinking that by using the multi meter touching the red - black to see what the resistance is set to and adjusting the screw to find out which way to add or subtract the number?

And to have it set to 400 Ohms when I begin?

I am going by this guide and the solderless one here as my first attempt will be solderless to be sure everything works and it does help.

so am I on track and gathering this info correctly? How to: Vmod your 8800 GS/GT/GTS /9600 GS/GSO/GT-vr-resistor-2.jpg

Looking good.

BTW, make sure to tear off the pin you are not going to use. If you switch pins you will go from max resistance to no resistance. Which could end up badly.

That is correct ^^^ So you will need a 20k Ohm VR set to max resistance, for your GPUv mod..[a 50k can be used, but will bring less precision to the adjustments..so 20k it is].

*Once you solder the VR in line, check for resistance at the VR in the same way..tuning with the VR, to ~3.72k Ohms, should raise the GPUv to ~1.21-1.24v.

Again, on page one, in purple you will see the vGPU measure points. Now I didn't see the vMEM measure points in the pic. The resistance measure point is in the lower left corner.

OK, now I'm a little confused. If his resistance is ruffly 4.0. 4 x 20 = 80K Ohm. Would he not need a 100K or 80K if there is one? Did I miss something?
