You'll find some interesting info in here on your 9600GT..seems that possibly this VID mod, can help..but its not for sure.. I'll keep looking around.

Choo' got SS for GPU..?! Oh that would be soo nice right now..*dreaming* my GPU's beg me for sub-'cero
tnx 4 d rep I am the RadeonX2 on TPU as you can see I have posted lately on your given link. this problem on 9600GT reference design is very2 old and still no one has a solution I am not an expert but I know how to follow instructions pls do give some time on this prob tnx btw...

oh BTW the link you gave was the vmod I tried lately... sadly it failed still OCP related problem

Well, Xargo, on XS posted he did ome BIOS editing and was able to boot and test 3D app's with GPUv > 1.4v.. Here

..that sounds promising anyhow..other than that..Largon suggested

well on the recent post I read grounding pin #35 doesn't work as confirmed by the guys @ XS

still a no go...

Hmm...
Damn. It's starting to look like pin#35 is not the OVP-pin after all. Fr3ak, no need to measure it nor even try to solder on it.
and grounding pin #35 is OVP related. my card blackscreen as soon as entering in 3D mode so I assume it is OCP

So perhaps instead of grounding it..you need to raise the resistance level.. I wish I were a bit more knowledgeable with the IC circuit.. Have you tried editing the BIOS VID selections?

I thought I read to up the OVP you jusr run 50k? resistors in parrelel with the caps to the ovp chip?

This goes without saying but
1. If you can't afford to lose it don't mod or OC it.

I doubt editing the bios will still give me blackscreen when vmod is applied.

can any1 elaborate more on this

Now, on to the OCP and OVP issues...

With a bit of creative searching and research I managed to get some info on the ADP3208 and confirm pin assignments for reference PCB.

Pin #12 - TTSNS - Thermal Throttling Sense and Crowbar Disable Input. A resistor divider where the upper resistor is
connected to VCC, the lower resistor (NTC thermistor) is connected to GND, and the center point is
connected to this pin and acts as a temperature sensor half bridge. Connecting TTSNS to GND disables
the thermal throttling function and disables the crowbar, or overvoltage protection (OVP), feature
of the chip.

Pin #15 - CLIM - Current Limit Setting Input/Output. An external resistor from this pin to GND sets the current limit
threshold of the converter.

According to an engineer I consulted we can increase the size of the resistor to increase the current limit. Doubling the resistor would double the current limit. The resistor that is being used currently is something around 200kohm, so let's see what we can do
I found it on XS the guy tried to ground pin #12 but still blackscreen occuring

I'm sorry I can't contribute on this kind of stuff so pls bare w/ me

If the TTSNS to ground, did not fix the OVP..then perhaps it is not OVP at all causing the issues..but the current limit of the power phase..? Starting with ~300k -> to pin 15 might increase the current limit potential..and allow for increased load voltages..you had better have some 'sinks on the VRM's, before doing so. There is no telling, if the clipping rate will be increased or if the limit only will be effected..at least until voltage is monitored under load again after mod.

Do you have a 500k VR?

If I wanted to only use my card for folding. Could I just take the core clock down massively so I could crank up the shaders? That way I could save on temps
