At that resolution, I don't think SLI will benefit much if at all, but if you must I'd go with the cheapest one. Either setup will max out every game on the market @ 1280x1024, heck a single 8800gt will most likely.

Just a HD4850 or two and be happy. They absolutely smash both of these SLI set ups.

and my set up smashes your set up, twice on sunday. dude throwing in your pro ati comments every chance u get is getting old especially in a thread that has nothing to do with ati. yes ati makes a good price/performance product gezz we get that, just some people prefer nvidia regardless if ati is making a product that is faster and cheaper at the moment, get over it. markets change, products change, it will be like that till the end of time; and two rival companies will continue to go back and forth on price/performance of there products. i prefer nvidia because iv had good experience with there products and im not going to switch to ati just because they might make something faster and cheaper in one series of product releases.

end rant

You really think I'm a pro-ati? My comment suggested that an HD4850 or two would smash an 8800GT SLI set up. Which it would! I'm just promoting the better product here. No need to get all defensive about your precious Nvidia cards.

btw. i dont think 4850cf totally SMASHES 8800gt sli.. if anything, theyre pretty close , at least from all the benchmarks ive seen so far..

its amazing how people use over literated terms to emphasize something that doesnt really exist ..

if it smashes the 8800gt sli, id like to see it smashing it by more than 20% in real gaming app

I'm pretty sure that cf 4850's would toast 8800gt sli. The benches aren't all that matters. Gaming is where the ATI cards shine, minus crysis.

8800GT SLI should perform better than 9600GT, cuz 8800GT has more Steam Processors.
