Default Upgrade to a 9800GTX+.....

I am thinking of upgrading from my 8800GT to a 9800GTX+, would that be a decent upgrade? I really want to get another eVGA, but the XFX version is $10 cheaper and covers everything the eVGA does. Plus a black PCB would be a plus in my book......

I think you get more out of your money if you upgraded to a GTX 260. The prices of those have gone down. However if you choose the 9800GTX+ you won't be disappointed. I mainly fold with mine and get around 6700-7000ppd. If your just gaming though I would get the 4850 for cheaper as is it on par with the 9800gtx+.

I am considering the same thing. I just bought an eVGA 750i FTW mobo and I wanted one of the eVGA 9800GTX+ cards as well. I'm running an XFX 8800GT xXx Alpha Dog edition GPU atm, and I've been told it won't be that huge of an upgrade for what they are worth ($320+ AUD)

But I still want one >.< Mainly for Farcry 2. Someone help convince me into buying one?

Up it to a GTX 260, then the performance would be pretty noticeable. PNY's are going pretty cheap with the next inline being evga ($20 more)

Whatever you choose i love my 9800gtx+ but the gtx260 would be worth. Please whatever you decide never buy a PNY. That's the sorriest chipset i have ever seen. EVGA or XFX or even BFG FTW!

A 9800GTX is basically a slightly optimized OCed 8800GT/GTS. I wouldn't consider it much of an upgrade.

I gotta say, if you ever wanted to SLI the 9800GTX scales probably the best.

I have heard that the GTX+ is mostly on par with the 8800 GTS KO (G92), so I don't think it would be much of an upgrade. I myself am thinking of going to SLI the GTS.

by itself the 9800GTX is not that awesome, but in SLI it rocks.

And one 9800GTX+ is ~ an 8800 Ultra.
