Apparently I'm on par with a stock E8400 and an 8800gt.

I'll probably Vmod it as soon as I get better cooling.
That's an insane core clock without a vmod!

Not really..while good for benchies..those shader speeds are teh suk.

It is quite easy to clock the core to insane speeds, when the shaders are well below even default speeds. Raising the shader clock will net a much better 3d score as well as real world performance. *Most of the GS's will net only around 700mhz core when shader clocks are linked, or increased as well.

I've got a question. My graphics card is a Sparkle 9600GSO. It's the stock clocked version, 550/1375/800.

The stock cooler is really good, with two heatpipes and a big spreader and fan. The thing is, I noted that the memory chips had no cooling at all. Does this mean that I can't overclock the memory? The core and the shaders can be clocked to 700 and it's stable at 55 degrees. I'm afraid to clock the memory higher than 850, because of the lack of cooling.

I do have a 120mm exhaust fan right next to the card, will that help?

You should change the title to 8800GS/9600GSO because they are identical cards. Mine currently isn't overclocked. I had issues overclocking when PhysX was released, and haven't tried since.

Just thought I would post this..not sure how many have seen or know of the set shader straps for these G92 cores.

Quote:
1512-1566-1620-1674-1728-1782-1836-1890-1944-1998-2052-2106

8800gs shader straps.
Those are the only shader values, recognized by the GPU.. entering one mhz less, will result in the shaders falling back to the previous strap speed.

ie- enter 1565mhz gives you shaders, still at the default 1512mhz ..
