Still haven't finished the new bios yet, forcing 1944mhz shader clock in the bios seems to be causing havoc, but booting at 1900mhz and using rivatuner up to 1944mhz works fine.
Cooling is essential if you plan on going much past the 1944mhz shader strap. I have played with the GPUv, from 1.21v - 1.29v load.. Only core speed will go much higher with stock cooling [~73c on extended load]..shaders must be cooler to remain stable at 1998mhz, arti's develop within a few minutes..leading to imminent 3D failure/lockup.

I will be looking to put mine in-loop and retest GPUv required for strap settings >2000mhz. Currently folding with 2x @ 810m/1944s/977r ..averaging 5924.25 PPD ..~1min 10sec / frame or .972~ speed index [as seen by folding client]

Looking good whodie! What core speed you running?

How in heck are you getting your shaders that high? Raising the voltage? How would I go about doing such a thing?

9600GSO = 8800GS while a 9600GT = 8600GT

So in short, the 9600GSO is faster and better than a 9600GT.

..Well, not quite, it depends on the use.

GSO/GS:

192mb memory bus
96 SP's
single-texture ROP structure

GT:

256mb memory bus
64 SP's
multi-texture ROP structure

GT's are supposedly better at higher resolutions than the GSO/GS..when it comes to folding or budget gaming..the GSO/GS is a fine choice.

Check out the 'Mod Guide' in my sig It is a simple mod, that allows for adjustable GPUv. Whodie is using an alternate method for his GPU's, which involves flashing the BIOS to raise the GPUv a bit [but to a preset level]..you can also raise the boot clocks in this way.

Either way, will allow for a large gain in core and shader speeds.

Yeah, I found it, and was about to edit my post, but OCN seems like it had gone done for a tad...

I doubt I would be able to Vmod my GSO, but I think what I now have is respectable...

"9600GSO = 8800GS" is right but "9600GT = 8600GT" is very very very wrong, you must be thinking of the 9500GT (9500GT = die shrunk 8600GT/GTS). Here are some of the differences.

9600GT (G94)
Stream Processors: 64
Memory Bus: 256-bit
Memory Size: 512MB
Manufacture Tech: 65nm

8800GS/9600GSO (G92)
Stream Processors: 96
Memory Bus: 192-bit
Memory Size: 384MB or 768MB
Manufacture Tech: 65nm

9500GT (G96)
Stream Processors: 32
Memory Bus: 128-bit
Memory Size: 256MB
Manufacture Tech: 65nm

8600GT/GTS (G84)

Stream Processors: 32
Memory Bus: 128-bit
Memory Size: 256MB
Manufacture Tech: 80nm

The performance difference between the 9600GT and 8800GS/9600GSO can be a topic of debate but in most cases a stock 9600GT beats a stock 8800GS/9600GSO. Although as you can see 8800GS/9600GSOs OC like mad.
