Alright guys, well my video card fan seems to be acting weird on me, and it happens to be off, more than on... Basically whats happening is, my video cards fan fluctuates on and off at random intervals, and I even tryed different PCI-Express 16x slots, and they all have the same outcome, It only seems to turn on for a slight second when the computer is turned on, but after that it just seems dead... what's also weird is that sometimes I have to use rivatuner to get it working, I have to usually move the fan with my finger to make it turn on again, but after awhile it'll turn back off at a random time, and id have to repeat the same process... I'm using the latest 7900 drivers from Nivida, and the latest Rivatuner.
__________________Another problem is my Chipset fan on the north-bridge, its completely dead and doesn't work.. idk why it decided to fail.. is there anyway I can resurrect it? I need this chipset fan working properly.. +Rep to anyone who solves this for me.

1. Buy a new fan for the northbridge
2. If you really can't get the GPU fan working, buy something better (Zalman VF-900 would be a great choice) or simply RMA the card. IMO, just buy new fans for your GPU and NB

How old are the fans?
You could try flashing the bios of the card to run at 100% to get maximum power all the time if the fan is failing, but doing this, eventually it will fail completely. Sounds like the fans are tired... I don't have any experience about submersing the fan in alcohol, but I know from working on electric RC motors they need to be cleaned periodically. But they are built to take apart and rebuild. Try blowing out any dust using a compressor or canned air. Edit: Some netiquitte advice. Leave a little more time between repeat requests for help.

Is it okay if my card runs 52C Idle without the fan working? is that too high? is it enough to affect my FPS when gaming? Usually it can hit 70C (gaming) depending on conditions.

You will know you have problems if you have artifacting, stuttering, blue screens, etc. Does the fan spin while gaming and at higher temps? Or is it the same problem with having to manually start the fan? Some cards have built in temps sensing and fan speed control.

In Rivatuner I have "Enable-low level fan control" enabled. and I have the fan control set to "Direct Control" It isn't set to Auto.

I had the exact same problem. Whenever I would start a 3D application, and sometimes at seemingly random times, rivatuner would lose fan settings. That's why I just flashed the cards. And while I was in there I flashed OC speeds too.
It was a little technical, as it required some hex editing in the bios, but was well worth the effort. It seems like it is a problem with 7900gs though, because I haven't been able to find any info about this problem with other cards.
