The PSU is not a bad investment IMO, considering that he'll be getting a CF board meaning that he might CF later on... as for the card, I agree - a single card is the best option.... it leaves room for CF later down the line when games become more GPU intensive for a singular card (and by that time, prices on the 4870 will have dropped)
