I have the same processor, the same motherboard, and I made the same switch as you did except i went from an 8800GT to a standard GTX 260.

I saw HUGE gains in stressed games like Crysis (~25FPS --> ~35FPS) and HUGE gains in benchmarks.

But in other games, those limited by CPU speed (probably like the ones you posted) where the the 8800GT was already bumping up against the limit of the CPU, I saw little to no gains.

That's life.

How come they score 17829 on this review ???? I know they have a 3.8GHz quad but im running mm quad at 3.45GHz.... would 400MHz make 1400 points difference ????

Well it's no hidden fact that 3DMark06 is heavily based on CPU, so I wouldn't be surprised if it made at least a good 800 point diff.

Yes.. depending on the overall system hardware and settings it can do, for instance if I have my quad at 3.0GHz I get a 3DMark score of 14980 and as previously stated at 3.4GHz I'll get 16131. Now my quad will actually run at 3.6GHz + with the correct voltage, and with a higher overclock on GPU and GPU memory on the XFX GTX260 XXX I'm sure I could hit around 16800+ however I just don't like having components running that close to their limits. So I'd say that at 3.8GHz 17829 or more is reachable.

WOW.... ive just done the crysis benchmark test at default settings 1280x1024 all high settings and scored:

DX10 59 FPS.....

Im right up there with all the high spec SLI rigs and only 2 FPS away from a Q6600 @ 3.7GHz and SLI GTX260's, smileyguy's rig

What do you think.. ???? Is that a good score ????
