well I don't plan on going SLI for a while, which is why I got my UD3R.

If thats the case I may go for the 9600GT although I won't be using it in SLI. And remember its just gonna be a temporary card to hold me over about 4 months maybe earlier depending on my budget until It allows me to be able to spend enough to grab a GTX 260 -216 or whatever better card I can afford by then.

Free shipping FTW
Well I was kinda convinced on getting the 9600GT, but actually now that you mention that I think I may as well go for the 9800GT if that's the case.
Either way it should hold me over pretty well then until the time comes that I can spend more money on a card.

If their any objections on this plan to get this card to hold me over till the time comes, speak up now or forever hold your peace xDDDDd

I have not seen a 9600GT that would keep up with my GS's in any game... though you will not get a GS with tis kind of performance off the shelf. I scored over 14,8k with a single GS..and 18.4k with SLi so far..

9600GT's 'er weak sauce.

Guessing your talking about 3dmark06?

Heavily a CPU program and seeing as you have yours clocked at 4.3ghz....
that boosts a lot right there. I have a GTX260 core 216 and i dont score over 19k on that with a 3.4 quad.

If you play at resolutions 1280*1024 and under the 8800GS 384MB. I have one and it can play any game at that resolution.

Actually the 18,640 point 3d 06' run was with a Q6600 @ 3.6ghz.. I have yet to run with the Q6600 at 4.1ghz..hoping for 20k.

A 3.6ghz clock on a Q4 is nothing..and easily matched with a fast dual-core CPU. Its not like I ran at 5ghz using the GS's in SLI.. I kept the CPU low, to compare my scores better, against others here on the forum.

So far, my scores have bested hardware in excess of 3x the cost..

-------------------

All that aside, I have not seen any 9600GT SLI scores as high as mine, with CPU clocks as low as mine.. Thus my opinion = [ 8800GS > 9600GT ] anyday with mods.
