The sort of answers that I am looking for are:-
* a program that automatically finds maximum overclock values.
* a way to make the card permenantly overclocked and not have to run a program everytime i start my pc.
* results from people that have already overclocked their 9800gtx.
* tips on what to look out for and how to do it
* I am willing to change bios settings. My motherboard is GA-EP35-DS3L with the latest F6a bios.

Please, any replies, can you make simple

Some systems will let you write the gpu clock speed to bios and it sticks. But the only way to make it run at that speed all the time is download a bios editor dump the bios to file, set it as default clock, burn it back into card, making sure you have a good stock copy of bios around. Do a google search on nvidia bios editor. Since you can't afford to make mistakes or will suffer from losing this card I wouldn't do it. You're processor is fine for most everything but may need a touch overlcock to 3.2 ghz for few things.

Thanks, I'm not sure, but I think that VGA Gamer HUD has stuck, but not 100% as I don't know any other program to check this.

As for my CPU, I have overclocked it to 3.6Ghz with the stock cooler. I want to overclock it more but it is already quite hot so I'm looking for better cooling solutions, if you any ideas post here:
