Question Overclocking nvidia 9800gtx

So, I have recently purchased a new nvidea 9800GTX + 1GB GDDR3 graphics card. I am looking to overclock it but I'm not to sure on how to go about it.
Its current core speed is 740mhz, memory speed is 1000mhz and shader is 1850mhz. As for cooling, I am using the stock fan that came with it.
The sort of answers that I am looking for are:-
* a program that automatically finds maximum overclock values.
* a way to make the card permenantly overclocked and not have to run a program everytime i start my pc.
* results from people that have already overclocked their 9800gtx.
* tips on what to look out for and how to do it
* I am willing to change bios settings. My motherboard is GA-EP35-DS3L with the latest F6a bios.

Please, any replies, can you make simple

No use OCing your GPU with that CPU....It wont make a difference in performance.

haha, after running 3dmark vantage I soon realised that. On default settings my GPU scored 4001 and my CPU scored 998. I don't know if it will make much difference but I have overclocked my CPU to 3.6Ghz, could go over 3.7Ghz but I feel it needs to be quite stable.

IMO- any Gigabyte BIOS with a letter after it, is a 'beta' version.

As far as your GPU, you might get close to 100mhz additional speed out of the shaders..my guess is 1998mhz strap will be the max for stable use, depending on temps. Core speeds can also be increased with a BIOS mod for more voltage..using a SC BIOS.

ready to vmod that baby yet 'er what?

atleast get a core 2 duo or even a pentium dual core, theyll easily outperform your P4 at stock speeds, before you consider oc'ing your GPU

I already knew it is a beta bios, it is working very well for me.

As for overclocking, I overclocked the core to 800mhz, memory speed to 1100 mhz and shader to 2000mhz all using VGA Gamer HUD (not too sure on bios overclocking and how to do it). It seems stable on 3dmark benchmarks, but I really need a program to actually test if it's stable. I don't know if any of you guys know of one?

I do want to get a new CPU, but I'm a full time student so got some money issues , especially with the ridiculous insurance prices for young drivers .

I am looking at overclocking my CPU, any ideas i.e. different, cheap cooling etc, reply here :-
http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...m-4-630-a.html

However, I am looking at Quad core processors. At th moment the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 is looking like my favourite with 2.5Ghz core speed. Of course I will want to also overclock this so any views on this CPU or any other alternative suggestion?

If you want to test stability, you need a full load... using Q features enabled at a high res, will do this for just about any game. Since your air cooling, your stability will depend a lot on the max temps you get under extended loads.... So set your OC, and game away for at least an hour with some AA and AF @ 1680x1050.. 'er whatever your monitor/s are capable of.

* If you get an arty's after some time..try lowering mem speeds first ~20mhz.. if it persists..lower shader speeds to 1936mhz, and try again. If all else fails..reduce the core speed by ~12mhz.

You can use the 'time-demo' if you have it, for Crysis.. set up a few tests and kick back for a few... serves as a good warm up, before you get too serious into shooting things.
