Default 55nm or 65nm GTX 260 Core 216?

I was wanting to buy the core 216 and was bout ready to buy the orange 65nm one until someone told me to def buy the new 55nm one because it runs cooler although i had never noticed any reviews be done over it or be unboxed on youtube. Should i buy the 55nm version?

Depends on the price. You might be able to overclock it a bit more.I see you have a GTX260 already in your sig, how are your temps? If you are satisfied, go for the cheaper one.

it does not run any cooler then the 65nm version because nvidia put a smaller heatsink on it making it actually run hotter. i would link you to the hardwarecanucks review but their site is down. unless the cards are within $10 of each other i would just buy the 65nm version.

EDIT: its up = http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum...rd-review.html

All in all, if you have bought a GTX 260 with 216 SPs, you have nothing to fear considering the 55nm version doesn’t give you any tangible benefits. With prices of the 65nm GTX 260 cards falling through the floor, the card reviewed here today probably isn’t too appealing at this juncture but it shouldn’t be written off too quickly. It occupies the tough position of a transitionary product that some (myself included) were hoping would bring better overclocking and lower power consumption to the table. These hopes weren’t fully borne out and that comes as a disappointment. It is as plain and simple as that.

Pros:

- Good performance
- Lifetime Warranty
- Quiet operation
- Good accessory package

Cons:

- Priced slightly above 65nm version
- Offers no overclocking or power savings benefits over old card
- Color scheme may not be to your liking

I do...and i was going to sell it to a friend to buy the core 216 version of them, the temps are mild round 55-70 between load and game, sort of on the hotter side, but then again, i dont really have my fan turned up, so i was wanting to get the 216 then do the rapid cooling and taking care of that bad boy

I may have been lucky and got a good card but my results differ, mine runs cooler than my old 65nm 260 216 and overclocks considerably higher. Plus it was priced lower than the 65nm
