I'm about to build a computer, and I'm pretty new to hardware. I am a hardcore gamer, and I want a solid platform considering that in games I've had to suffer playing at 25 FPS with all the graphics settings on low. Integrated graphics won't get you too far in Call of Duty 4.
So, please rate this system on how it would perform in modern games: -Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.66GHz <- I will overclock this for sure unless the fan sucks. In that case, I'll buy a new fan, then overclock it. -EVGA X58 SLI Ready Motherboard <- Picked this randomly to be honest. How is it? -Seagate Barracuda 750GB HDD -EVGA GeForce GTX 280 1GB. <- Probably will OC. Might also upgrade to the 295 in the future. -Corsair 850W SLI Ready PSU <- Again, Picked pretty randomly. Will it be powerful enough? -6GB OCZ Gold Tri-Channel RAM (3 x 2048) -Vista Home Premium x64 <- Probably going to upgrade to Windows 7 once it comes out and I see some reviews of it. So, that's it. Thanks. Last edited by Aturaya : 01-09-09 at 09:15 PM |

What kind of monitor are you running?
Your setup will easily handle 1680x1050, and you'll probably be able to push most games in 1920x1200. Also that i7 should be good for 3.2 easily on the stock fan.

how much are you paying for the gtx 280?
__________________If the price is close to gtx 295 then might as well go for that instead Power supply is good for 2-way SLI- actually, a Corsair 750TX will be enough for that. or get the 1000W blue one if you wanna 3-way. Instead of that HDD, get two Seagate 7200.11 32MB 500GBs and raid 0 them

At ColdHardCash, I'm not on a very tight budget, but $2500 is too much for a computer in my opinion.
At xwinx, the 280 is around $340 and the 295 floats around $500. And I could care less about the HDD. I also might go for a 2/3-way SLI with the 280 later on.
