Default SLI 8800gts 640 worth it?

I currently have a old MSI 8800GTS 640. Ever since I have upgraded to my 1920x1200 resolution I noticed a huge decrease in performance (obviously, but worth it. ) Now a friend of a friend is selling a EVGA 8800GTS 640 for 50 bucks. I do know you can SLI with two different brands of video cards. I have no experience with SLI. But my questions are:

1. The EVGA has a 1600mhz effective memory clock while my MSI is currently clocked at 900Mhz. Will this effect performance in any way?

2. Is it worth it? I will have this rig for at least another six months.

3. If I do decide to purchase would it be best to re-flash them both to the same bios?

Other way around, but, yeah, it's 800 vs 900 ... his card should be easy to OC to 900MHz, to match your card, so ...

A couple of 640's is not a bad setup at all, actually. If it's only $50, and you already got an SLI board and PSU that'll handle the load, I'd say, go for it. No way you're gonna get a bigger bang out of fifty bucks than going for it, I can tell ya that for sure. OC them bad boys, and they should tide you over nicely for at least another year I'd guess.

My old evga identical card could easily OC to 620/1000Mhz, if you can get the MSI close to that too you should see 20fps better. (imo)

Yeah I got a huge Heatsink for my MSI, with some tweaking I should be able to hit that. Was that with your stock heatsink/fan?
