Default e-Geforce 8800 GTS SSC Edition 640 overcloclocking

i've never overclocked anything. i do plan to over clock my processor when i get some money for this stuff to connect some pins. and i've been to afraid to over clock my graphics card since SSC does stand for "Super Super Clocked". but i was wondering if it was even safe to overclock it anymore . and if anyone has it overclocked even more and EXTREMELY STABLE i would like to know what you have it clocked at so i can do the same and get some more performance outta this sweet thing.

Don't be afraid to overclock it more. Most companies use pretty conservative overclocks, even eVGA SSC edition. Just use Nvidia's built in overclock panel and bump your clock's up 5Mhz, test, bump up, test, etc. until you start to hit instability, then back off 10Mhz and that is your overclock. I'd be surprised if you couldn't squeeze another 8-10% or so of performance out of it.

That is very strange, why did you have to reformat? Were you getting BSOD's or something? Trust me, it is very safe. Just get something like FurMark or 3dMark06, and then start with the cpu.

Bump the cpu up first by 10Mhz, run FurMark or 3dMark06, if everything looks fine bump up 10Mhz, then test stability, then bump it up, etc.

Since you are testing everytime and raising the clock speed slowly, you should be fine.

After you've determined the max cpu clock, reset it to stock, and do the same thing, except for the memory this time. Bump it a little, test for stability, bump a little, etc. until you find the max memory overclock.

Now put the cpu clock back to its max stable and leave the memory at its max stable clock and test for stability. It may not be stable though, so you will then have to start scaling back the clocks just a little, 5-10Mhz.

Then you will have your max safe overclock for 24/7 usage!

Very safe, don't be afraid. I've done it to a bunch of cards myself.
