The point is not to say 'this is what you then must game at', the point is that it could be INFORMATIVE, because it drastically drops the vram requirement. I'm not going to tell you to TRY something like lowering your settings just to go 'oh well, that's what you need to play at' ... I don't hang around to be useless to people here
![]() Basically, other than the numbers as a whole both seeming a bit lower than they should be, what you describe happening (meaning the 1/2 the fps at 1600 vs 800) is generally what one would expect to happen ... so it's not terribly informative. If you are seeing no difference in frames in WH with SLI on or off (btw, you should always restart after toggling this setting), I'm leaning towards one of the two cards simply not coming 'on' even when sli is on. I would monitor temps while doing a stress test w/the latest furmark and see whether both gpu's stay within a couple degrees of one another ... or not. Unfortunately, I have zero experience using the g80/g92 cards in DX10, the only card I've actually ever used in dx10 is my 295, so I'm maybe not the best person to help you out on this. I'm just suggesting what I would try without actually knowing whether or not what you're seeing in terms of frames are normal or not. For all I know, the 9x00 series might just stink at dx10 and there's no other explanation (or steps) necessary.

I was just playing around in Warhead with disabling and enabling Streaming Textures and I get no difference. Not even 1 FPS. I also set Textures to "Gamer" and no difference. ![]() However setting Textures to "Mainstream" gave me 5 more FPS. Does this tell you anything? Looks to me like Warhead is extremely VRAM intensive (at high resolutions) This means that 1680x1050 and above resolution most likely need 1GB of VRAM to max out Warhead.

I finally got some results by upgrading to the new 185.85 drivers. But it still seems a little low. It's all Enthusiast settings (even though it says Custom). Is anyone with a 9800GX2 getting the same results?

I get around 30 fps in Warhead with Enthusiast DX10 2xAA 1680x1050 and no Vsync on my GTX 275. I think the 190+ drivers help with AA, at least that I have read on some of the threads. Their is one custom config I know of for Warhead, it's CCC Warhead. I don't use it myself but I would say try it out.
