Default Sli @ Low Res?

Hey

My system is in my sig thingy
Ok i was considerning buying another 8800gs so i could go sli
But will sli work well if even at all @ 1360 x 768 native res

Also i have the xfx 8800 alpha dog
Will it be safe if i overclock it to the xxx edition as they both have the same coolers

Cheers

Sli will work in all resolutions
I had my pc hook up to my tv running 1366x768 in sli at one point

I say it would be safe to overclock it to the xxx extreme edition

Well my system maxes out Crysis at 1360 x 768 with very playable framerates, and two 8800GS's will be better than my 8800GT. Although, my CPU is better than yours. SLI always works.

And I wouldn't really trust that PSU very much.

It'll work, but supposldly it doesn't do much at lower resolutions. I think it would be a better bet for you to save up/sell your current card and just buy a sinlg fast solution. FOr instance, a used 4830/4850.

scaling on the 2nd card is almost non-existent on small resolutions, if your TV does 1080i, then i would suggest going SLI.

Lower resolution places more demand on your CPU and your CPU will not run an SLI set-up. Truth is its prolly limiting your one card in certain ways

I had 8800GT sli at 1280x1024 with a 5600+ X2 at 3.5Ghz and i was bottlnecked as hell.

And its common fact that SLI doesn't scale aswel at lower resolutions and if my math is right his resolution of 1360 x 768 has 20% less pixels then the 1280x1024 i used to run SLI on.

Lower resolution places more demand on the CPU and his CPU is, without sounding to mean, piss poor.

Your CPU plays a huge part in SLI as it has to be able to drive 2 cards.

One 8800GS is plenty for that resolution. SLI will do little, if anything, at that res. My old 8600GT overclocked to hell and back could play games at 720p on high settings all day long, and that 8800GS is leaps and bounds better.

Save up for a higher resolution monitor/TV.

And that Athlon X2 is not bottle-necking an 8800GS, come on people Just because it's not the absolute newest tech doesn't mean it's bad tech. Back before Phenom ever existed people were spouting the same crap, Athlon X2 does fine in games, graphics card matters most, turn up the eye candy to take load off of the CPU, blah blah blah.

One 8800GS won't be plenty for that resolution. This one (9600GSO) I've got struggles at 1280x1024.

SLI will do you well and will be fine on your CPU.
