He got it.. There used to be cards that had a PCB that long, and cases would have a row of slots to hold the end of the PCB to prevent sagging.. My previous case had this, but nowadays you rarely see PCBs that long, so it's quite uneccessary, however, if your case does have the slots, i'm sure it will help support and distribute the weight of the card so there is less pressure on the solder of the expansion slot.

i think my 8800GTS came with something similar, but was easily removable- was to give the card more support
