Yeah, I played the game @ 1280 x 1024 with an E2200 (stock) and an X1650pro with very decent framerates, but your CPU is gonna bottleneck it heavily. Even my E2200 @ 3.4GHz bottlenecked it .

lol, I could OC a 9600.... Anyways, I have to wait for my next paycheck.

I checked the power consuption BTW.

Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Extreme QX9770 @ 3.852Ghz
Memory: G.Skill 2x 2GB DDR2-1000 @ 1052Mhz DDR
Motherboard: DFI LanParty DK X38 T2R
Disk Drive: Pioneer DVD Writer
Hard Drive: Hitachi Deskstar 320GB SATAII
Fans: 2X Yate Loon 120mm @ 1200RPM

I think I'll be fine for now. My turbolink is pretty solid.

I expect nothing less than an extreme bottleneck. This is the ultimate bottleneck. I have a 256MB stick of DDR2 667 to test with... should be funny.

Don't get a 9600. Get an X2 7750, Phenom II X2 550, or Phenom II X3 720. You don't want to deal with the TLB bug, and all of those processors will outperform the 9600.

I wouldn't trust on that, your PSU has only 18A on the 12V rail and 25A is advised. The maximum draw of a GTX+ is already around 160W which leaves around 60W for your CPU, fans, RAM and HDD's.

Yea to be safe a better power supply is best, but you might be able to get by... I guess you gotta ask yourself:

You should definitely swap out the processor if you get a new power supply. The athlon x2s (AM2) have gotta be getting dirt cheap on ebay. This bugger is only $60 on newegg, and this Corsair power supply is better than your current one and is $50 before the $10 rebate. At that point your system is pretty much maxed out except for the monitor. You really won't be able to use the full performance capabilities of that 9800GTX+ without running a higher resolution. That card will kill oblivion and most other games @ 1280 x 1024

So which CPU, then? I hear one opinion. I have an AM2+ capable motherboard.
