Hello everyone, Im trying to help a friend here...
__________________He have a Asus Extreme Striker for a motherboard which for some reason he couldnt install Windows Vista (32 and 64). So he was using Windows XP which was fine until couple days ago when his computer starts to freeze when playing games. So he decided to format his pc and give another shot at Windows Vista 64bit (main reason to get 4GB of memory), Windows Vista was installed but when installing the motherboard drivers the computer starts to restart itself. So he updated the BIOS, did another clean install of Windows Vista and this time he let Windows Update install the drivers for the motherboard and the video card and it did work for about a week, but then one night he turn it off next day when he went to use it the screen resolution was set to 800x600 and his nvidia control panel was gone, he went to device manager and looked at the video card there and its a exclamation point with a error code: 43. He tried to unistall the drivers and install the latest from the nvidia website and samething happens, reformated again the hd and tried the samething and same error on the video card, removed the video card and put on his brother's pc and which have the same video card as him and same error there too... So we are out of options here, can anyone advie anything we should try? Main problems: Motherboard works fine with xp but its a pain to get windows vista stable. gpu: computer starts to freeze, after reformating and installing a clean version of the OS starts to get a error code: 43 Please help... Thanks. PS: here is the deal if the gpu is falling he need to get a new one and he would like to get something good and he is thinking about getting the GTX 295for the video card, because he plays game and thats what he needs it for. now as the motherboard we are afraid that all this problem started because of his asus striker so he is also thinking about to get another motherboard because he dont want to lose another gpu in this case if it was really the motherboard. For the motherboard he dont want nothing fancy for now because in couple months or maybe a year he wants to upgrade to a i7 and there will be a change on the mb, cpu and memory... so if he needs to get a motherboard which cheap/good stable board could he get?

right, the board worked fine until he tried to install the drivers from the nvidia website, which makes sense that the drivers was causing the problem, but after he performed another clean install and let windows update install the driver the pc work fine until the video card starts to be the problem, as no matter what os he puts (xp, vista) or what driver are installed (mb, gpu, from the website or from windows update) he still get error code: 43 showing on device manager... drivers for the video card is not installing properly because of this error, I guess.
