Default **GTX280 SLI PSU question**

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to get a second GTX280 soon and I was wondering if my Corsair CMPSU-750TX power supply is gonna be enough to run it.

Wattage: 750 watt
Efficiency: > 80%
Rails: +3.3V@30A,+5V@28A,+12V@60A, -12V@0.8A,+5VSB@3.0A

Am I cutting it close or am I safe? I'm trying to account for worst case scenario but I would really like to avoid buying another PSU. Any input you guys can offer I would greatly appreciate.

Thanks in advance

Yes, that PSU should be good for SLI GTX280s.

Anyone else have any thoughts or can confirm this in more detail perhaps?

I ran a 4.0ghz core i7 and gtx 280 sli off that power supply, you should not have any issues. That is unless you have like 20 hdd's.

What matters most in a PSU is amps, that PSU has 60 amps on the 12v rail, that will generally be plenty for SLI GTX280s.

I have four in total. Two of which are Raptors. Plus I have my E8400 very OCed and will be getting an EVGA 780i board very soon.

How long did you keep the PSU at load on your system?

I thought so too but it says that one GTX280 requires a PSU with 42 amps or more. That's what got me questioning it.

I would say you should go for the 850tx, I mean its a little bit more money if your on a budget and all but for 10 more amps on the 12volt rail isn't it worth the extra 10 bucks right now on newegg.com.
