Default SLI+second monitor not working

So I decided to connect my old monitor again, it does a fine job as screen

But for some reason I just can't get it to work as long as SLI is turned on...

Quote from the sticky thread:

Can I run multiple monitors when using SLi?
Yes, but you will need the latest Forceware drivers, available from nvidia's homepage. Only drivers from 180.48 onwards will allow you to run multiple moniors when SLi is enabled. IF you don't have the latest drivers you'll have to disable SLi in nVidia control panel in order to get multiple monitors to work.
Well, I'm running 181.71, the newer driver versions simply don't work for me (no clue why, it bluescreens me out of my games). But this driver is never then the 180.48, and it should support SLI+multiple monitors??

The nVidia control panel detects the second screen, once I enable it and press Apply it just blacks out my primary screen for a few seconds, and once it turned normal the settings have been reset to the default.
Same thing with the Windows7 screen resolution options, once I try to 'extend screen to both monitors' it just says 'Unable to save display settings'.

Help?

try not to bump your thread within 24hrs.

As for your problem, have you connected both monitors to one card or one per card?

Have you been into your Nvidia control panel to configure the settings?

Some cards act differently when SLI'd especially dual pcb cards... in your case I would try connecting both monitors to the first card and if that doesn't work, one to each card and go troubleshooting from there.

I'm definitely no sli expert but I doubt it's to tricky if it is possible.

None work:
Both in 1 card
Both seperate

If I plug it into the second card the nVidia control panel gives me an error saying that when SLI is turned on I have to plug both screens to 1 card to make it work. If I plug them both in the same card the options just reset when I press the apply button.
