You can't.

SLI = Two cards working as one

Your just going to put two cards in a computer, each can independently run different 3D applications. Such as 2 different folding programs.

At most, you can run the second card for physx. The Duke is correct about having two different cards with different sp's folding in the same rig. It can like drop the ppd of the 9800gtx+ to where the two cards combined would equal what the 98800gtx+ does on it's own.

The thread title clearly states without SLI, Please read the post before posting.

Yes you can use it for PhysX in the Nvidia control panel there is an option for physx settings. You click enable and from the pull down list click the other video card that you are using for pysX (8600GT). Enable and your off. Go play some Mirrors Edge to test it out

You understand correct my friend,

You can not do SLI on your computer because you DO NOT have an Nvidia chipset.

You however could use the card for PhysX or you could use the card to fold.

What board do you need for SLI?
You need any Nvidia Nforce board that has at least TWO PCIE lanes.

EX: nforce- 650i-680i- ect or X58/Skulltrail board

I don't have the game, is it any good? I could test it on Mass Effect though b/c it uses physX.

I had a gigabyte P45 meant for CF and I was able to run a single 295 gtx to power my 30" and a 9600gt in the other slot to run my 2x20"

so yes it can be done w/ out any issues
