ok guys i have a pny 8800gt and would like to know if it has an audio in
an if yes were is it located

Why would a video card have audio out? The only video cards that would possibly have that are the ATI TV Wonders.

I don't believe that the 8 series cards supported the audio throughput. Did the card come with a cable to do that in the box? If not, then I would seriously doubt that you'll be able to pump sound through hdmi.

My one 8800GT has SPDIF in, but my older reference models does not. Hope that helps. Mine was located on the top edge (edge opposite the PCI-e slot) towards the front of the card (where the DVI hookups are). It is a small 2-pin male connector on mine. The female connectors used to connect your front panel to the mobo can be used to connect the SPDIF in.

Just so you know, you can't get 5.1 output on games through that connection scheme, only on DVD's and other sources that are encoded in DD/DTS ... UNLESS you have a sound card that supports DD Live or DTS Connect (i.e. real-time 5.1 encoding).
