Default FPS Drops in tf2

I'm getting FPS drops in cames, mainly TF2 with my sig rig, like it'll be around 120-150, then if i go out into open say like on 2Fort itll drop down to 50-60s
and people with less GFX power seems to get more constant Higher FPS. any idea?

I even tried reinstalling Windows XP, is it the most recent nvidia drivers? I dont seem to remember having this problem before, although im more worried about it now

I do know that this MOBO has a bad memory slot, which limits me to 6gb, and i will be RMA'ing soon

It could be the server you are playing on. Try other games and see if you get any weird drops. If you don't then its probably the server or if you do, its probably the drivers or something. Try reinstalling some of the older drivers maybe to see if the newer drivers are the problem. Make sure you use driversweeper. But really, I wouldn't be to worried about it, I mean 50-60 is still perfectly playable.

TF2 is a huge CPU hog... it loves fast clocks.
Your GPU isn't the problem here. Are you playing on like 32-person servers? If so, you should know that TF2 will kill CPU's with so much mayhem going on.

My suggestion:
Overclock.

Also enable that multi-core feature in the options too.

First of all other people could be using lower settings no aa no af and low shadows and reflections your gtx 260 should be fine just depends on your settings and if vsync is disabled and use nvidia's driver not alternates uninstall them go into safe mode run driversweeper go back in OS then install the latest drives turn off vsync and ambient occlusion.

Once you ran driversweeper afterwards run disk clean up or ccleaner.
