Default GTX 260 SLI problems

Ran a benchrun of crysis 1920x1080 very high no aa (two runs yielded 42fps average, quite pleased with that) and there was artifacts everywhere. After the second run it just froze. I switched the cards so that XFX was in the first slot, reinstalled drivers 186.18 and ran it again. Performance was so terrible. Stressing now with furmark with an OC of 700/1500/1100 and they are running 83*C with 70% fan.

Any ideas?

I have a feeling the xfx needs to be rma'd. I started getting artifacts after installing it (previously games ran fine, granted that wasn't in sli).

This is not normal.

that's really not all that hot for SLI, running furmark, if that's what you're worried about.

afa the artifacts in the crysis bench goes, maybe the xfx isn't stable at as high a clocks as the bfg, and you'll have to lower them a bit. does stock clocks all around fix the artifacts?

your description of things you've tried and what the actual problem here is ... is kinda vague APC.

OC was only 712 core/linked shader/ 1200 memory. There's a chance it wasn't stable but I got artifacts before in CoD5 with both at stock clocks. Something is up if on card is ~40*C warmer, don't really care if that's safe or not. After reinstall of drivers, clocks were at default.

I'd say a decent chance why the temps are so different is that SLI isn't working with furmark in windowed mode. That or you have an old version of furmark that doesn't support SLI (it was added fairly recently).

712core 1200 memory is a pretty high overclock for gtx 260. Mine artifacts at 710. Lower them a bit.

Agreed, lower the clocks. I don't have the highest OC on my two GTX 260's, but I know that over 700 core is pretty intense

No its not if you unlinked the shader clock which i think whats holding you back(of course when he says he gets artifacts on clock settings thats a different story :maybe somthing wrong with fan of that XFX ?)
unlink that shader/core !!! bring down the shader to 1440 and try
when you change fan speeds do you see any difference on temps???

pfft what am i saying "unlink" when you say 700/1500 duhh little sleepy i guess
anyways just take down the shader a bit i think 1500 is a lttle high
