I think you can squeeze a bit more out of it.
I have an fx5200 and managed 355mhz core, and 438mhz mem.

Great thread guys, very helpful to see if I was on the right track. In case it helps I will now chime in on what I found:
Using a BFG FX 5500 oc PCI (this ****ty dell has no APG/PCIe) Default before BFG overclocked it: 270/350 (I believe) BFG Default: 290/400 Final overclock: 310/470 Ran coolbit 2. Used forceware to autodetect best overclock. It gave me 323/470. Ran loads of test with 3DMark03 bfore and after overclocking it. 323 was too high as it would leave triangles all over, freeze every 2-3 minutes for about 20 seconds and nasty artifacts. Dropped to 315 and it was clean, no freeze, or any artifacts. As well the score was about 300 points higher on 3DMark than with the higher clock. Seems like they take these nasties into consideration thus having a higher clock, if you cant support it actually hurts you, not helps you. I assume thats common knowledge but fun to learn. In the end I brought it back 5 ticks for safe measure to a final of 310. I left the memory core at 470 so far since most folks on this list are getting around there anyway but I will try a little higher this afternoon and see what I find. BTW in case anyone is interested, I read somewhere that forcing pixel shaders 1.4 on instead of 2.0 improves performance to a noticable degree. I ran 9 tests each on 3 different overclock settings, and 4 different anti-aliasing levels (none, non masking, 2x, 4x) and virtually no difference in FPS or anything else. I also ran Americas Army and COD2 with no change either in performance so maybe it helps some folks but I noticed nothing. Anyhow first post, sorry it's long winded, I hope it helps someone. |

I have a 550 on order, but I'm curious how to see if my system can run it at full speed.
