When you were at your buddy's place. Did you guys used the current installed drivers or did a clean drivers installation. By clean I mean, getting rid of the old drivers, running a driver cleaner and maybe ccleaner after and then installing the new drivers. Because it's possible that he was using some custom drivers that are tweaked? or maybe he changed something for better performance.

Are you possitive that you are using the exact same settings you tried on his system? I mean your system has better specs and it just doesn't make sense that it would be slower on your system with the exact OS and amount of RAM. Otherwise maybe it's just his DDR3 memory. I guess DDR3 does kick DDR2 ass but I can't really see memory giving extra FPS over higher CPU speed.

Was his FSB much higher than yours? This could make a difference too.

Oh yeah when you say you are getting 34 FPS @ 1920x1200 all Very High, no AA, DX10. Is this on benchmark?

If so which benchmark and what level. I want to compare my scores with yours. But my monitor can't do 1920x1200, can you do 1600x1200 with the same settings and then try with 4X AA and also make sure your anisotropic filtering is at 16X because I always have it at 16X.
We both had the same settings and drivers. We didn't uninstall them at all, we just popped out the previous cards and put the GTX295 in then restarted after it installed the drivers into device manager. The drivers are the same, so there's no need to uninstall them they just install the new devices automatically.

We both use "Let 3D Application Decide" in NVIDIA Control Panel.

We used the default benchmark that works with Crysis. Crysis Benchmark Tool.

That's why I wanted to compare scores. His score seems very low for his card. A GTX 295 kills any other card with the same settings especially when going into FSAA and or higher resolutions.

So the scores that you guys are posting, are just the average score from the benchmark?

I have that benchmark. I'll give it a try. But I would like to know what the minimum/max and average fps are.

But test at 1600x1200, also you guys are just using the default driver settings? nothing changed? have you guys enabled Anisotropic filtering?

This is what my drivers settings look like. I tried to adjust them for quality.

Just so you know, Saulin ...

Crysis doesn't support AF on Very High (it uses parallax mapping instead) so turning it on in the NCP is not a good idea when running VH.

Also, if you turn on Supersampling AA, it works even when AA is set to 'application controlled', and it can be a MAJOR perf killer. I don't believe it does anything in Crysis because Crysis has it's own AA and what you set in the CP doesn't really affect it. But in other games ... it can really crush the FPS.

Anyways, so when testing Crysis, you should also turn off the TRAA.

is very minor difference it could be how many programs do you have in background and some things like this
and yes 295 shows in device manager as 2x 295(because is 2x 275) you have 2 graphic cards running in Sli (on PCB)

Oh like I said. I changed the settings for best quality. So when I game does use AA, I want it to use Supersampling. I can only game at 1600x1200 max so most liekly I will be using FSAA whenever I can

Interesting I didn't know that about Crysis and AF. It seems to have some performance hit. I guess I'll have to check in game to see what the visual difference is with it on and with it in application controlled.

Anyways with the settings posted this is what I got when benching Crysis.

These are my clocks on my card right now.

GTX 285 OCX @ 710 core/1360 memory/1584 shaders

http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/zqxb6/

It just won't overclock much at all because it comes already overclocked but I ran FurMark for about 30 mins and I did not see any artifacts or anything so I'm calling it good for now

Also these latest beta drivers 190.56 seem to be the most stable for me right now.

ATI tool did not detect any artifacts either but I don't trust it much. It does not get the video card as hot as FurMark at all.

Crysis @ 1600x1200, everything in very high, DX10, 64-bit, No AF, No AA

Crysis @ 1600x1200, everything in very high, DX10, 64-bit, No AF, 4X AA

Crysis @ 1600x1200, everything in very high, DX10, 64-bit, 16X AF, No AA

Crysis @ 1600x1200, everything in very high, DX10, 64-bit, 16X AF, 4X AA

To the original poster. Unless you are posting the minimum FPS for the crysis benchmark. I think there is something wrong.
