As promised, here is the damage picture of my 275. All the visible damage was done to the left port. A strong smell of burned plastic still wanes over it. Just out of curiosity, today i pulled out an old mobo i had in my tuffbox and plugged a single 6 pin into the slot on the right and powered on, and to my surprise it actually worked. Well anyway, here it is.

Ooooohhhh ahhhhhhhhhh! So flames were shooting out of that six pin socket? Was the PSU plugged into it at the time? And yeah, it should power on with one connector in there, but it might not run at full speed. I know on my board it will switch to 4x (or 8x, not entirely sure). At the same time, I wouldn't run the risk of it screwing up anything else you got in there.

I am man enough to say that the first time i built a computer i hot glued the motherboard to the case.

Unlucky with this man, they should have more notices on the manual, not really your fault tbh.

One would assume so I'd be pretty pissed if my equipment burst into flame on contact with air.

I'm man enough to say the first time I built a computer I threw a screw driver at the motherboard out of frustration.

I'm also man enough to say that I didn't forget standoffs for my main build, and that's why it took me far to long to build it. Case came with those little bumps in place of standoffs. Now I have a pack of standoffs I don't need.

Newegg RMA's are the best! They will take anything back if you just stretch the truth. When I built my rig I was installing the HD, but then decided to remove it to do some better cable management. The sata pins were so brittle, when I pulled out the cable, all the pins bent and couple of them were completely removed. Called Newegg, told them my HD came with broken pins and was shipped as damaged and they gave me a new one, for free. It came in about 2 weeks.
