As for the thermal pads, I used the same ones since they were perfectly intact (and I don't have any spares ). One was broken though and I replaced it with AS Ceramic (not on a ram but a VRM). I'll try lowering the memory frequency also, those might be overheating too. I know that the G80 GPU should be fine up until 110C but it's still probably too hot for it to run without errors anyway.
Sound's like you are in need of some serious after market cooling...

Yeah I know but considering what this card has been through I don't want to spend any money on it . Also I installed fresh thermal paste so the temperatures will probably drop in a couple of days. AS5 needs a couple of days to break in IIRC.

lol, well it probably fixed it... you just need to install a new heatsink. After scrapping of the old one that it .

I dunno....20$ or so vs what a card of similar performance would cost to replace it....then again is you're card not just going to randomly crap out and the 20$ not go to waste...then again you could always reuse the cooler so nothing went to waste...

Blah either way good luck with the card...i couldn't imagine watching over a GPU like that...those temps would make me cry

Yeah I might look for a used aftermarket heatsink. I remember looking for one a while back and they didn't seem much better than the stock. I was also thinking of watercooling for a while but never got to it. Note that high 80s is perfectly normal for a G80 under load. This thing heats my room in the winter, no kidding .

Well yeah but it just doesn't seem right

I got my Accelero S1 Rev.2 and a 140MM Antec Tri cool for 20$...i have my 4850 setup with the S1 the 140MM and 120MM and this thing cools like a beast...

A used cooler could definitely be obtained on the cheap and im sure it would help your card to keep kicking for a bit longer...

Post results please

I just realized there is an artifact that will appear and disappear in ATItool even when underclocked to minimum speed. It's perfectly stable but this little artifact might be causing calculation errors while folding.

I'm guessing the memory is either overheating (quite unlikely since artifact is still there when fan is running 100% and card is underclocked to minimum and temps about 50C) or bad RAM. I remember seeing a memtest86+ to test graphics card memory. Does anyone know what it's called and where I can get it?

Thanks
