ok so this might be a big nooby question but here it goes... ok so i have a gtx 275 ftw... could i get like a normal 275 or a 260 and use it for sli???

You can get another GTX 275. The GTX 260 is technically a different core, the FTW edition will have to be underclocked to match the speeds of the slower card, but that is it.

it is best if you use the same exact 2 gpus for SLI or else it wont work

If your motherboard supports SLI then you can get another GTX 275 for SLI to be able to work. Also; if you DO get a card that is slightly higher or lower in clock speed than the other; the higher-clocked card WILL underclock itself to match the lower-clocked card so that they are matching. Same with VRAM as well, it will always only use the lower amount.
