I Oc'd my 8800 Gt to 725/2000 and it was stable only the temps were hotter than before....

GAVE you a 8800GT? Why do you get all the nice friends?

That's a good overclock in my opinion, especially for a card that old.

...How much would you want for it (fold away!) anyway?

The failure in 8800 GT's (and 8800 GTS for that matter) was mainly due to them being equipped with Qimonda memory chips, which unfortunately did not have any headroom for overclocking, especially when pushed 999 Mhz. In later models, they were replaced with Samsung memory, which albeit sometimes having a higher latency (1.0-1.2 ns compared to 1.0 ns), were able to clock well above 1000 Mhz.

@JMT668: Can you see who is the maker of the memory on your 8800 GT? If it's samsung, you're in the clear

Not going to try and fake this one lol. There are no reviews that I can remember stating "do not get 8800 gt's with the qimonda memory", but 99% of memory related failures for the 8800 gt were because the user overclocked the memory to speeds greater than 999Mhz and because the memory module was Qimonda

I just remember reading tons and tons of threads about failed cards because they clocked qimonda memory above 1000 mhz. Can't seem to find that many threads right now via google (they're probably too old to show up...)

In any case, if he has samsung memory, he will be able to clock it above 1000Mhz. The 8800 GT's in my alt-rig are running at 1100 memory no problem, and have been going strong for over a year.

it was a memory controller problem on the earlier cards and not due to the memory chips.I think it should have been solved by now, so unless its one of the earliest bathes it should work fine.
