So I have my old part's sold mobo, cpu, ram and gpu.I need to give them up pretty soon so I will be putting my new 1156 stuff together Friday or Saturday.I have everything but a new GPU.Since I can't decide what I want yet and don't want to spend any money on something to get me by.I threw my buddy's dead PNY 8800GTS 320mb into the oven earlier.I baked it at 285 for 12 minute's and when I get home tomorrow I will slap it back together and see what happen's.Keeping my finger's crossed.I will post back with the result's, may be later in the evening but I let you guy's know what happened.

Be careful when you are slapping it back together...you don't want the frosting to dribble out

What in the world is going on here? Why did you put the video card in the oven? I honestly am at a loss. Is this supposed to fix some bad solder? And where did you come up with 285 degrees for 12 minutes? Did you just push buttons until it turned on? Seriously, more story needed here.

Supposedly putting an old G80 GPU in the oven fixed something that prevented them from working so they worked again

Yeah, on nVidia GPUs especially(due to some weird soldering issue they had), sometimes baking them will re-flow the solder on the BGA reviving once dead cards. It's a similar concept to fixing some RRoDs on 360s.

The OP made no mention of why the card was dead or that it was suspected of having a bad soldering job. Not many people know about heating up a component to resolder connections. It was just weird how he is talking about his build and just casually mentions he cooked his card. Was the card out of warranty?
