Default *GTX295 maximum safe voltage?*

I was wondering if anyone knows what is the maximum safe voltage for a Dual PCB GTX295. I am currently watercooling so temperatures aren't an issue and I was interested in pushing it to the limit (safely of course). I have recently installed the EVGA Voltage Tuner but it caps the limit to 1.18v. I also found a patch that unblocks that limit to 2.00v and I was interesting in bumping to voltage a little more beyond 1.18v but still keeping it safe enough to run 24/7.

Does anyone know what this limit is or where I can find this info?

IMO i wouldn't go past the max by evga. yours maybe able to handle 2 but no idea for how long. also overvolting with evga tuner up to their maximum is still under warranty but if you use the patch then it voids the warranty.

however, your probably like me and ignore all of that so i too am curious if the dual pcb can handle 2.0

LOL, I definitely know that 2.0v is NOT safe for 24/7. Most likely not even safe for even a suicide run. That's just the absolute max that the EVGA Voltage Tuner can even do for any GPU, now that I unlocked it. I'm just asking if anyone knows the safe limit for a GTX295 or 55nm GPUs are?

I was able to find a few people running up to 1.25v but no one said if it was safe or if it can go higher. Maybe one of you guys can fill me in on a recommendation?

I wouldn't go over 1.2V on the card, personally. It's just not worth it risking a $500 piece of machinery for a few extra frames. Even if you got it up to 2V, it's not going to increase your fps enough to increase the playable settings you get on any games anyways. You still are going to have the same shader count, rop count, tmu count, and vram amount no matter how high you clock the thing, and all of those have the potential to limit your maximum playable settings just as much as the clocks do.

Don't get all crazy man, that's my best advice. There's no more reliable way to destroy a card than by overdoing the voltage. If you were toying around with an old 8600GTS or something, that's one thing. But with a GTX295 ... unless money just doesn't matter to you ... it's not worth the risk.

I totally agree with you brettjv. This is why I'm trying to find out what is the maximum safe voltage for these cards. I want to max out the clocks as far as possible but I'm not doing any voltage bumps until I find out the safe limit. Believe it or not but clocks make a fair amount of difference in FPS. When I overclocked from stock to 750/1575/2400 at 1.18v, I got 9 FPS more for the average FPS in my Crysis benchmark but so far I clocked it as far as it will go on this voltage. On stock voltage I could only get to 685/1500/2400 maximum stable so I definitely see a difference by doing these voltage bumps.

I'm definitely not going anywhere near 2.0v because that's clearly unsafe but I would like to get it as high as safely possible so I can max out my clocks as far as they can go.

i'm running my GTX295 with 1.2v for over a half year now...and it's folding 24/7 on it...
my clocks are 576 / 1674 / 756 though just to keep the temps as low as possible,
really would like to know the max safe voltage as well...maybe i can get some more PPD
