So, thought I'd come here and see if there are any options left. Here's my story:
__________________A while ago I decided to upgrade in the graphics department, by replacing my Sapphire HD4830 for a Sapphire HD4890 Vapor-X OC. I was able to raise the core all the way up to 981Mhz, with the memory running at 4500. Sadly I ended up trading this card for an equally priced Asus ENGTX275, as the ATI had problems running Aion due to driver issues. I went for the 275 because of the Guru3D overclocking guide I read about it. To put it simple, I'm having trouble getting even half their final gains on the core/shader. The guide concluded with speeds of 743Mhz on the core, 1605Mhz on the shader and 1282 on the memory. Now all I've been able to achieve is 698/1515/1250. The memory seems capable of some more, but taking either the core or shader clock beyond this results in driver crashes in games and benchmarks (Vantage). Is this it for my card, or are there ways to climb up?

Must be your card.

Haha, yeah bummer. I've looked into 275 volt mods, but haven't found a guide clear enough for me.

When you try overclocking further, try to raise shader before core. Shader always has to be over 2x core. Are they still linked? A big part of Shader stability is temperature, what are yours during load?

They are still linked yes. Taking the shader any further results in driver crashes. Heat doesn't seem to be an issue (yet), the core doesn't even get passed 74c load.

Also for the GTX260, that's only the 65nm editions. The only GTX285 supported is that Quad-SLI Classified Edition. And only the Dual PCB Editions of the GTX295 are supported as well.
All the other cards have cheap VRM's so it's physically impossible for them to do software voltage tuning even if the support was given.
