Default Random BSOD's

Hey guys.
I recently bought a GeForce FX 5900XT Ultra, and it came the other day. I plugged it in, installed drivers and started gaming/overclocks. I was about 1hr into NFS MW, and boom. BSOD. It says that the problem was in nv4_disp.dll, however google didn't show alot. I tried updating via nVidia's website, still same problem. I even set clocks <20MHz under stock. and still.. Can anyone help out, thanks

~sktfreak.

It sounds like My old pc might either be revealing to you that the overclock isn't stable, or you need to try a different driver version (more than likely the oldest one you can find that supports this GPU).

The bar at the bottom is called the "Taskbar", not the "toolbar" (that is, in Windows).
The dollar sign goes to the left of the dollar amount, not the right. (Example: $10, not 10$).

I'm guessing you bought this used? Was the original driver disc provided if so did you try those? You're probably going to the best luck with some old drivers (I mean really old), sad to say.

Yes. I did use the drivers on the disc. It was new, but those drivers also caused crashes :S

When you say you set the clocks below stock you did both the memory and core, correct? Does it only crash under stress (in games, etc)?

I'm not finding 172.19 on nVidia's website. But they do have 175.19 for both Vista 32-bit and 64-bit.
I actually found 2 drivers, but the other one is older and it was designed for the RTM of Vista (before it was officially released, that is).

It's possible from faulty memory. I had an 8800GTX go south on me with random crashes and I'd get the same error. After long testing I finally figured out I had some faulty memory on the card. Also have you checked to see what kind of temps it's running at. Been forever since I've looked at anything from the FX series so I'm not even sure what would be normal for it.
