![]() I understand what you're saying, but point is there's so much marketing stills that get done for stuff, that it's impossible to say what's what until the demo actually shows up. I see all the time, guys on zbrushcentral or cgtalk or whatever will liscence some of their work to ati/nvidia (or whoever) for advertising. 4 days later all of a sudden I see one of these images on sites like ocn in a thread saying "hai guys look what dx10 can do!". When I know damn well it took 4 days to render because I followed the guys 'work in progress' thread. It's for that reason, wether these images are legit or not, I will wait until I see an actual working demo before I get my panties ruffled about it.

Speculation based on the fact that it's over twice the size of GT200 and comes with an insane amount of highly expensive L1 and L2 cache. Fermi has at the very minimum 256KB of L1 and 768KB of L2. Both of these weren't present in GT200, and come as extra cost. nVidia can't even sell GTX 285s right now because they can't make a profit selling them anywhere close to $300. With Fermi's low yields and high cost of parts we're going to be looking at a $600 card at least. $800 would be my guess, at least if they want to make a profit. I think the reason they are focusing on GPGPU and rendering is because they know that very few people are actually going to buy the card for gaming. The only way they are going to beat ATI in gaming is through the highest performance, which consists of those very few individuals willing to pay a 200% premium for a 15% improvement.

I'm with all the other posters on giving us actual benchmarks. Photo's don't mean much these days, they can be made to look better or worse than actual game play or whatever the picture came from. Even video is heading that direction ![]() This is Nvidia trying to keep its customer base from going out and buying ATI's cards. And guess what? It's probably working on a lot of people because their stocks have been on a steady rise as of the beginning of October.

In case anyone was wondering, PIPS:lab is basically a special effects studio and PostPanic is an ad studio, they did the Nike commercials.
It kind of backs up supaspoon's point. None of the images nVidia released have anything to do with gaming. I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't even rendered on Fermi.

Wouldn't that be a downgrade? (Unless you plan to get another 4890)
