Simple: Reseat the gpu cooler and apply quality paste/pads? I've seen some horrible pics of stock paste application floating around here. Some have less than 1/3 the gpu covered! Just a thought.

And no these are not designed to operate at 100% that is a thoughtless comment. Not designed to run at mostly because of thermal limits. If you take steps to control yes you can extend.

TDP is not 100% usage. So do not confuse.
What then, are they designed to operate at?

Just wondering if folding can damage cards in some way. I had a gtx275 a while back which I overclocked. Fine for games and was not a massive overclock either.
Then I folded a little on it and started to have some issues. Eventually the card would only run on Stock settings, no overclock allowed, to run games, fold etc.

At the time I did not think anything of it, I just assumed the card was not a great overclocker.
Recently I seen someone selling 2 x gtx275s bfg OCC editions. Now he said they were only ever used for folding.
He was selling them pretty cheap, as he said for some reason the cards would only run on stock settings, eg settings lower than this cards OC.

I have a 275 now again and was going to start folding(my motherboard took a dump too a few weeks after so took a while)

Thinking about the above, I am having 2nd thoughts. Anyone have any views/experience on the above?

That

OCC, SSC, XXX, Black edition are all factory oc'd cards.
They are likely running right on the edge of stability already, I would venture a guess and say his cards were binned too aggressively.

Does F@H kill cards, maybe, eventually.
In a week, not likely unless the card was a lemon to begin with.

I've been F@H on my 295 for months, 24/7 most of the time, sometimes with a voltage bump.
Card shows no signs of degradation.

my two cards have folded for weeks none stop hitting 90c temps and still go strong.. i can still oc the shaders to 1800 but drivers do fail sometimes. safe shader oc for me is 1750. im not sure the straps but around there. i dont think that it will damage your card. just make sure that you set the fan to 100% speed.
